網路上的沉默者：以中興大學法商學院的BBS使用者為例

本文所欲探討的對象是極少從事發表文章之行為的電子佈告欄 (BBS) 使用者，即所謂的沉默者(lurker)，蓋\因這些潛伏使用者的意見不能為其他使用者所感知，而使得網路上的意見並不如原先所想的那樣多元。主要的研究問題有：性別與使用者趨於沉默的相關性、沉默者的媒介使用型態、媒介使用特性與沉默與否的關係、個人對發表文章的看法與沉默與否的關係及個人在真實世界中的社會關係是否影響其網路使用行為等。

本文以中興大學法商學院 “北極星” 站的BBS使用者為抽樣母體，以立意抽樣的方式進行問卷調查；回收有效問卷共111份。主要研究發現：(1) 女性較男性少有張貼文章的行為，(2) 沉默者較常使用閱\讀文章及E-mail 的功\能，而較不常上線、上線總次數也較少，(3) 沉默者較認為打字速度會影響到發表文章的意願，(4)沉默者在網路上較會感覺到壓力、較不介入紛爭、較不願表達自己意見且較不認為匿名可以減輕發表文章的壓力， 及 (5) 沉默者較會認為自己受到朋友的影響；非沉默者則較喜歡提供朋友們從網路上得知的新鮮趣事。

The purpose of the study was to find out the characteristics of the lurkers on BBS. A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect data for this study. 111 valid questionnaires were returned to the researchers.

The findings of data analysis showed that (1) female were more likely being lurkers than male, (2) lurkers were less skilled at typing than nonlurkers, (3) lurkers were more afraid of expressing themselves than nonlurkers, and (4) lurkers were more influenced by their friends than nonlurkers. More findings were discussed in the paper.
