The study of VCRs viewing explores the emergence of home entertainment culture, focusing on media use and leisure activities of Taiwanese adolescents. Among mass media available in home, only comics reading is significantly related with adolescents ’ VCRs use. TV viewing is by far the dominant medium among respondents. However, the data also indicates that adolescents spent more than 40% of viewing time watching cable which comes later than VCRs in Taiwanese households.
The study shows that VCR viewers are more frequently attend outdoor, parallel or joint activities, e.g., attending spectator sports, KTV, shopping, hobbies, socializing with friends.
