Workplace bullying means having a conflict with someone more than once and continually to be in an unfriendly relationship. For realizing this condition comprehensively, we apply Emerson’s power-dependency theory to analyze and work through in-depth interview. Finally the results show that (1) formal power-dependence relation usually results in downwards bullying, and the targets choose to swallow an insult; (2) horizontal bullying between colleagues comes from informal power and social support in the same time, and most of the targets response actively; (3) Gossip plays an important role in workplace bullying, because it could speed up the development of bullying and enhance the intensity.
