在跨國音樂集團跨入台灣之後:從唱片製作人的創作自主性談起
The conflict between creativity and commerce: How major transnational music corporations’ production strategies affect record producers’ creativity autonomy in Taiwan
Popular music industry is a part of cultural industry; it is commonly assumed that the music business is risky and uncertain. This paper considers the conflict between creativity and commerce within popular music industry; it describes how tensions arise between managers and record producers in record companies. It also argues that there’s a complexity between commercial market, creativity autonomy and transnational record corporations. Evidences from the interviews with four record producers indicate while the major transnational music corporations bring the special way of producing records to Taiwan in the 1990s, the creativity autonomy owned by record producers are seriously influenced. They are forced to follow the strategies, the formula of production satisfying the market, resulting in the similarities within the records they produce. This has become a trend in Taiwan’s popular music industry at present.
