Reception aesthetics is the mainstream aesthetics paradigm in the middle of 20th century. Some scholars, Jauss and Iser, put emphasis on the importance of audience ’s participants. Although Jauss pointed out “aesthetic horizon”, he rarely elaborated it and explained relationships between aesthetic expectations and aesthetic effects. This study tried to operate “aesthetic horizon” and collected data from real readers’interviews. Aesthetic responses were cultivated by local culture which also impacted people’s genre knowledge.
