Persons with mental illness frequently encounter stigma in our society.As mass media are public’s primary source of information about mental illness and one of important constructers of social consciousness, mass media often describe persons with mental illness as dangerous factor. This research explored that there are four types such as violence image or comic image and so on in news articles about mental illness published in four major newspapers in Taiwan. These news articles also refer those images to some characteristics of mental illness like unpredictable,uncontrollable, even supernatural .
