This Essay intends to present the post-war difficult situation of pre-colonial educated people like Wu Cho-liu. Wordlessness and struggling on identities, Wu Cho-liu became one of the "lost generation", and explored his "consciousness of Asian orphans". As a typical sample of Taiwan native newspapermen, the tradition he represented, although at one time, was almost annihilated by dominate hegemony of KMT regime through the mechanism of "selective tradition". But after the martial law dropped, those nearly dead elements of Taiwan society have been resurged in a new "selective tradition" process. It shows an importance angle in understand current Taiwan media ecosystem.
