The important issue of media convergence has been debated in the digital age, but is a topic that is rarely discussed the convergence journalism between television news and new media information happened in Taiwan. This article addresses the developments from two perspectives, television news texts and its news work, through the concept of ‘new media technology’. By analyzing the content of 7 24-hours television news channels at 18:00-20:00 for 2 months and in-depth interviews on television news reporters and producers, this paper examines how new media information is used in traditional television coverage. The results indicate the new media information has been overused and become the source of sensational news in traditional television. The goal of convergence journalism is to provide the audience for advertising which will deteriorate the professionalism of television reporting and editing.
