The main purpose of this study is to outline the features of Taiwan’s gangster films. This study use textual analysis to analyzes two box office films, Monga and Jump Ashin. This study wishes to conclude the rule of the narrative in gangster story, and to explore the culture specificity in the films. The result of the study shows that the gangster film in local films have some rule. For the structure of plot, the progress of the story follows the same formula. For the content, both of these two movies combine the relationship of people in gang with the image of family. On the other hand, the gangster films show the tense atmosphere, and have some admonition meaning. Moreover, the films also closely integrate with Taiwan’s popular culture, traditional religion and customs.
