This article is based on Goffman’s Dramaturgy and tries to explain the self presentation of the elder users on social network platform contextually. Through in-depth interview and observational study with the elder users who have their own social groups and with whom are involved deeply in Facebook, the research separates the elders into groups of socialize and concealed due to the different ways of sifting friends. The research shows that the elderly users usually pay much attention to the realism, have less self-revelation and are good at using impression management strategies to maintain the casual atmosphere on the platform. Also, the elders would adjust their self presentation by social action comparison, feedback system or the sights from others. The users of socialize would use multiple ways to perform and have higher frequency of using Facebook, but only stay at front stage. On the other hand, the concealed users are facing the audience that has been sifted first, so that they have a higher chance to reveal their back stage at the platform.
