The major purpose of the study is to analyze the news contentin the Tapei and Kaohsiung Mayoral election campaign in 2002.All the election news published in the national edtionsby the three local major newspapers were all analyzed from October1 until December 7. The results show that the press puts focus onthe game-oriented stragetic news instead of substance-oriented issues.Both Taipei and Kaohsiung Mayoral election news demostrates the samephenomenon, while it is much worse in Kaohsiung. The ratio in Taipeiis 76.1% vs. 23.9%, while it ’s 91.2% vs. 8.8% in Kaohsiung.
