The research interviews 14 journalism graduates who didn’t choose to be a
journalist in Taiwan, and intends to realize the key factors that influence their
career choices. According to Krumboltz’s social learning theory of career decision
making, the research views learning experience as the most important influencing
factor. In addition, personal background and social context are also included.
The research generalizes four types of journalism graduates’ non-journalistic career
decision-making process, and then puts forward some suggestions to journalism
education in Taiwan.
