In highly development of contemporary society, people receive various health
messages from anywhere. The ways of empowering people’s media literacy on
health issues and further promoting health behaviors and living styles have
become important issues in health communication. The aim of this project was
to help media literacy education of health communication taking root in campus.
The project designed a teaching action plan and trained few University students to
teach young people on media literacy of health communication in high and senior
high schools in central Taiwan.
The project found out that such a teaching action plan benefited the students from
Communication major to increase their experiences of social marketing in health
issues. Also, learning motivation of the students from General Education courses
were inspired. Therefore, this project argued that media literacy could act as an
important medium which connected interdisciplinary knowledge. However, the
degree of interdisciplinary knowledge was a big challenged for the teaching action
plan.
