The omnipresence of new media has changed the nature of people's lives and ways of acquiring knowledge. The mediatization theory, a reaction to the transformation of communication, has been emerging from the European continent with a media-centered perspective to explore the social world. This research tries to construct a dialogue with the aforementioned conceptual framework employing the wealth of monographs and books themed on the mediatization theory published internationally in recent years as well as the narrative communication research. To do this, this paper first focuses on how the mediatization and narrative research both turn their perspectives to the "process" of social construction. Second, it discusses the theory-building of communicative figurations in the age of deep mediatization; and then describes the conceptual similarity of mediatization and transmedia storytelling, interpreting how they meet in addressing the complexity and sense-making in the mediatized world that weaves together aspects of the old and new, real and virtual into an increasingly diverse and complex media ecology.
