To give a greater insight of how elders participate the modern society which is constructed of information and technology, this paper aimed to investigate the relationship between elders’ online picture-related activities, named as ‘‘the elderly’s memes’’, and successful aging from an empowerment perspective. A quantitative-method was conducted by online and mail survey. Through 504 effective responses (aged over 50), there were three major findings. First, the indirect effects, from the frequency of sharing and creating, to information and communication technology (ICT) empowerment, to active media use, and to successful aging, were confirmed. Second, the frequency of creating positively and directly predicted two dimensions of successful aging, living and learning activities. Third, compared with relatively younger elders, elders who often shared and created pictures were associated with greater effects on ICT empowerment; furthermore, those who shared and created pictures with highest frequency had similar degree of ICT empowerment with younger elders.
