More confident or more anxious? The relationship between “Finsta” and emotional response and willingness from the perspective of social comparison theory
The phenomenon of “Finsta” has become more and more popular on the most representative social media, Instagram, but the research on the emotional and behavioral responses behind it is still limited. This research tried to use the view of social comparison theory, conducting online survey method, suggesting that in the field of Finsta, whether users have an upward comparison orientation and bring negative emotions due to interaction with Internet celebrities, or positive emotions due to downward comparison orientation due to interaction with close friends, it will help increase users’ willingness to work in the field of comparison. The conclusion shows that the use of Finsta will bring positive effects to users.
