To maintain a good first impression, impression management is vital. This study focuses on physical interviews under COVID-19 pandemic to explore how different styles of face masks (blue vs. multi-colored) worn by job applicants with different personality traits (extrovert vs. introvert) for different positions (accounting vs. public relations) affect the impressions of job match-up, trustworthiness, and competency of interviewees. The study found that extroverted candidates had significantly higher job match-up, source credibility, and competency than introverts; accounting candidates had significantly higher suitability and source credibility than public relations candidates, and face mask styles did not differ significantly from all three, but introverts’ job match-up with blue face masks were significantly higher than multi-colored face masks when interviewing for accounting positions.
