本論文從科學、科技與社會 (STS- Science, Technology, and Society)、科學與科技爭議研究 (Science and Technology Controversy Studies),以及風險傳播(Risk Communication) 與媒介理論的研究視角出發,採用量化內容分析與質性文獻分析研究方法,探討與評估於 2022 年 11 月問世的人工智慧聊天機器人 ChatGPT 的科技爭議主題,以及媒體再現 ChatGPT 的科技風險框架。本論文一方面風險從傳播理論視野分析網路新聞媒體設定與建構的 ChatGPT 議題類型及風險框架策略;另一方面從科學、科技與社會,以及科學與科技爭議研究的取徑出發,檢視人文與社會科學、媒體與傳播研究領域的文獻針對 ChatGPT 的分析主題與結論,以探究人工智慧聊天機器人 ChatGPT 對於社會、經濟、法律、媒體等面向的科技爭議效應與因應解方。
Drawing from STS (Science and Technology Studies; Science, Technology, and Society) and risk communication theories and perspectives, this study employs methods of content analysis and document analysis to analyze and assess the technological controversies of, and risk communication about ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer), an Artificial Intelligence Chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022, and in two months it already has more than 100 million users as of February 2023. Specifically, the current study examines the online media content and scholarly research literature about ChatGPT’s sociality and controversial characteristics. The purpose of the current study is twofold: First, to review and assess the technological controversies of ChatGPT from STS point of view in humanity and social science literatures; secondly, to analyze and evaluate risk communication framings and coverages portrayed by the online news media about the conflicted issues regarding ChatGPT.
