Based on the uses and gratification approach and the theoretical framework of the expectancy-value theory, this study examined the relation between Internet use by university students in Macau and their expected values towards Internet, and investigated its relation to traditional media. The findings showed that students had significant perceived value of pursuing fashionable life pattern through Internet, and thus increased their use of Internet. Moreover, the Internet use did not bring great impact on the use of traditional media. No significant findings were found for the existence of the media displacement effect.
