An Analysis On Photographs Of North China Daily News: During The Period When Shanghai Was Isolated (1937.8--1941.12)
North China Daily News is one of the most influential English newspapers, established by the British in Shanghai in early twentieth century. During the time of Japanese Invasion, Shanghai Concession was the only place Japanese troops didn’t step into, thus the period of time before the Pearl Harbor Incident was called "Period When Shanghai Was Isolated". Due to the wide use of photographs by North China Daily News, the paper analyzes the photographs concerning the Japanese Invasion during this period. This period is divided into four parts: 1937.7-1937.11; 1937.11-1938.12; 1939.1-1939.9; 1939.9-1941.12
The paper analyzes the number and the different characteristics of photographs in each period, and comes to a conclusion on the change of attitude and stand of North China Daily News on the Japanese Invasion.
