The research on how the female audience interprets the Korean TV drama "Kim Sam Soon". The purpose of this paper involves attempting to understand the female audience ’s inner world via their experience of watching the said Korean TV drama. The three aspects of cognition, emotion, behavior involvement is utilized as the starting point to discuss four pleasure attributions of the female audience(productivity, evasion, criticism, empathy).
This research adopted the way of qualitative in-depth interview. It discovered that through cognition and emotion involvement, there would be a sense of pleasure aroused within the female audience. Moreover, most of them would invest considerable emotion while watching the Korean TV drama to have the pleasure of productivity and empathy, as well as sympathetic and vicarious fulfillment through interacting with characters in the Korean TV drama. They also think that watching TV is a joyful avoidance behavior which can get them away from the pressure of reality and patriarchy. For the female audience, watching TV is a reasonable and pleasant pastime. Through the behavior involvement, they may have more subjects to share and get closer to each other ’s life.
