Following the development of political and economic environments, KMT (Kuomintang) party-state apparatuses have gradually given up the traditional way of censorship, and adopted different media/information control measures, namely, public relations and advertising so as to accord with the more advanced media practices in new situation.
What are the factors contributing to such a change? Further, does the change implies that the KMT have to compete with other social institutions on the square? Or. The party-state apparatuses are still powerful enough to maintain control over communications. This study explores the above questions and find that, with the existing predominance plus the maneuver of news value, KMT party-state apparatuses have not get removes their role of mind-controlled. Accordingly, the public thinking is none less manipulated by the more sophisticated measures in the present time.
