The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between Internet use and communication competence. Four indicators were used to measure Internet use, which were experience with Internet, years of Internet use, time spent in Internet for seeking information, and time spent on Internet for interaction with other people.
Communication competence includes seven dimensions: relaxation, interaction management, adaptability, self-disclosure, message competence, self-concept, and goal achievement.
A questionnaire was distributed to 221 college students in northern Taiwan. The research findings were discussed in details in the paper.
