Internet emerged as a medium possessing characteristics of both interpersonal communication and mass communication in this era. This makes communication researchers rethink some existing concepts about communication. This paper takes an ethnographic approach to study a newsgroup originated in Hong Kong, namely, "hk.entertainment". 15 typical types of talks identified during observations are analyzed and arranged into 6 main categories of talk, including Sharing, Antagonistic Debate, Sanction, Contingent Talk, Nonsense Talk and Flaming.
