The position of this research is that the study of television drama and trendy drama in Taiwan ignores textual analysis at present. Nevertheless, textual specificity is the key point to comprehend the popularity of television drama and trendy drama. It adopts ’The Popular Arts Approach ’ suggested by British researcher J. McGuigan, choosing Lavender as the research case. Lavender was the remarkable trendy drama in the earliest embryonic stage that Taiwanese television station started self-producing this dramatic genre in 2001. The aims of this research are, to understand the text of Lavender how to construct and represent the myth about love; to understand the text of this trendy drama how to articulate social and cultural context, and how to produce the circulating and endless dialectical relation within social and cultural context. It deconstructs the text of Lavender with three dimensions, including visual aesthetics, psychoanalysis, and cultural codes. Based on these dimensions, this research interprets this trendy drama how to appropriate, plagiarize, choose and organize the structural elements of text from the everyday life of youth viewers; and how to construct and represent the myth about love for them through the reproduction of television apparatus.
