This study examines newspaper coverage of political leader, Leung Chun-ying, in Hong Kong, based on a content analysis of the news reports of top three issues covered by three representative Hong Kong newspapers. Results of this study showed that Illegal Structure, Occupy Central Movement and Mr. Leung’s Taking Office were covered most in the fixed time period among Apple Daily, Ming Pao, and Wen Wei Po. More importantly, results also showed that when the events related to these three issues were reported, Ming Pao provided more objective coverage of CY Leung. The coverage of Wen Wei Po was positive about him, while the coverage of Apple Daily was negative. These findings indicate that the difference of ownership among the three newspapers has led to the distinction of journalistic objectivity in political reports from the three newspapers, which shed light upon current journalistic objectivity in Hong Kong.
