It has been more than a decade since the first Hakka TV was established in July 2003 in Taiwan. As the Hakka ethnic media flourished over the years, diversity for the content of Hakka TV programming becomes increasingly important and challenging. The concepts of ethnic media diversity should be theoretically defined and empirically studied with respect to different political, economic, and cultural contexts of the ethnic media. Drawing from theories of multiculturalism and ethnic media, the current study employs methods of literature and content analyses to examine the Taiwan Hakka TV programming including program type, program source, media frame, accent and intonation, repeatability, to investigate and evaluate the state of diversity of the Hakka ethnic media under the framework of multiculturalism.
