Those two crises of China Airlines crash in Penghu and Singapore Airlines crash in Chang Kai-shek International Airport totally caused 308 deaths and 44 injured were selected as cases for this study. Using a content analysis of the related news coverage on three major newspapers in Taiwan, this study describes and illustrates the crisis communication strategies of and differences between airlines. Then, this study provides suggestions for crisis communication based on the theory of image restoration discourse, media effectiveness, crisis public relations model and four models of crisis communication.
